Mecca’s Pilates Department teaches a method of physical conditioning based on the teachings of Joseph H. Pilates. Pilates is a system of sequential and carefully performed movements, each designed to lengthen and strengthen the muscles involved. This exercise system helps to open joints and release tension, resulting in a new sense of well-being. Pilates focuses on strengthening the “core” muscles, which consist of the abdomen, lower back, and glutes. By participating in Pilates exercises, clients can look forward to improving body-alignment, balance, coordination, and muscle tone. Finally, Pilates training can help to develop a longer, leaner physique, improve posture, and promote appropriate breathing techniques.

A private session designed specifically for you – there is nothing like one-on-one instruction to get the most out of an hour. Private sessions are booked in the studio.
One-on-one session: $65
Two-on-one session: $40 each

Two-on-one session: $42.50 each
Getting Started:
After you have toured the facility, you are then scheduled to meet with Lisa Fehrman, Director of the Pilates Department, to get set up on the proper program with the correct instructor.

Introduction to Pilates Mat
Learn the principles of alignment, breath, and pelvic stabilization in an intimate class setting. Focus will be in the introduction of the basic principles of the Pilates Technique and the ten basic mat exercises. This is a 4-week class beginning the first week of every month, and is a pre-requisite for all other pilates classes. 4 week introduction class is an advance sign up. Pilates mat
The mat works consists of a series of non-impact, yet challenging movements which increases strength and flexibility and improves alignment, balance, coordination, and tone. Focus is on deep core strength and stabilization with balanced muscle use and uniformity of the entire body. The “powerhouse” - abdomen, lower back, and glutes - is strengthened, enabling the rest of the body to move freely. The class works the systems of the body through rotation, lateral flexion, extension, and forward flexion. The program is designed to meet the needs of both the novice and advanced exerciser.
